Electrostatic discharges (ESD) are one of the most common causes of failure of integrated circuits on semiconductors. Light diodes are especially sensitive and can often tolerate reverse voltage of only 5 - 30 V. This is why it is essential to take preventative measures in advance to reliably avoid static charging.
To avoid damage through ESD, Barthelme stores, handles and packs all LEDlight flex strips in an ESD-protected environment.
To avoid ESD damage on the recipient's side, Barthelme offers antistatic wristbands with earthing terminal. Antistatic wristbands are used to earth the person handling the electronics with a strong resistor which diverts any kind of electric charge – no electric voltage can emerge.
